Our
Story …
Here at Whirlwind, we are building
on two generations of experience in oil, gas, coal,
uranium, and mineral exploration and production
in the west. Founded by US Congressman John Wold
in the 1950’s, the Wold Companies have built
a business harnessing our nation’s powerful
energy resources. Four years ago, Jack and Peter
turned their interests to wind. With six projects
in various stages of development, Whirlwind is actively
promoting and developing wind energy in Wyoming
and the surrounding western states.
Whirlwind is committed to
building strong local projects that benefit the
landowners and provide clean and affordable energy.
We develop projects that bring the maximum benefit
to the local communities in the form of a reliable
and sustainable tax base. Our projects offer increased
capital for schools and infrastructure while giving
landowners payments in the form of rent or royalties
for the use of their land. We understand and value
the western way of life, and we strive to do everything
possible to minimize land use disturbance. It
is our goal to build projects locally, and we
feel that our experience and presence in the Rockies
sets us apart in this regard. We are always looking
